Decisions, Choices and Options Seminar

We are excited to have DCO back to FBC Pinson on Wednesday, January 14, Wednesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, at 6pm each evening!

DCO’S MISSION IS:
We empower all youth with Sexual Risk Avoidance education by providing medically accurate programs that guide them to optimal health in every area of their lives.

We accomplish this mission through providing medically accurate, science based and primary prevention sexual risk avoidance education (SRAE) programs to youth through public and private school classroom instruction and working with community and faith-based organizations to teach parent and youth programs based on the optimal health model.

Youth thrive with knowledge about the decisions they face during adolescence, the future impact of their choices, and the skills to value themselves and their future through positive options leading to success.

This is a free 3-session seminar open to children and youth from 13-18 and their parents. We will have activities available for children younger than 12.  Kids will be in the youth basement and the parents in the sanctuary for each session. How it all started

First Baptist Pinson has a long and interesting history. It is one of the oldest churches in the area. In 1816 a wagon train of people from South Carolina were traveling to Florida. When they cam through the area where the Tennessee Road and Georgia road crossed, the Anderson and Hagood families decided to leave the wagon train and make their home in the area. They named the place "Hagood's Crossroads" and became the first settlers in what is now Pinson.

In 1818 the founded the Oldsides Baptist Church which some say later became Enon Baptist Church. This was a story and a half log and board building...The church in Hagood's Cross Roads was abandoned and eventually fell down. No one knows how long the area was without a church and this is why it cannot be established, without a doubt, that First Baptist Pinson today is the same as that organized in 1818.
However, it is on record that six people, four ladies and two men, including members of the Anderson's and Hagood's organized Salem Baptist Church in Hagood's Crossroads. The church was used as the first school in the area. This church which became First Baptist Pinson was organized in 1839 and it has had continuous service since then.
